Transforming an Awkward Nook Into a Calming Study Space – A Makeover

Amy and Greg live in a rural area and built their house about 4 years ago, having lived there ever since. The couple wanted to create a multipurpose room that the whole family could enjoy so they created a beautiful study space.

“They said, “We wanted it to be a room of its own and something that was just neat and also visually appealing”.

Amy says how she’s always loved the colour blue and wanted to paint a wall somewhere blue.

“We went with a light blue which is a Dulux colour called Powick.”

“We matched it in by holding some colours up to the wall to see what matched our existing grey walls.”

The couple picked up their paint after choosing their colour, marked out the wall with some tape and started rolling it on. “It was a quick and really easy job,” says Amy.

They also added a few green plants so it rolled on from the rest of their house with indoor plants.

“The makeover has really made it seem like its own room. So we walk past it now and I can tell that that’s separate. The blue works really well in the space. I feel like as soon as I’m in there it is just calming”.

“I really love this space now that it’s all finished and it really flows on perfectly from the rest of our house.”
