NSW Government Announces $31 Million Road Link Between Schofields and Riverstone

The NSW Government has pledged $31.55 million towards road upgrades between Schofields and Riverstone. This is being delivered in partnership with Blacktown City Council, who are providing an additional $6.42 million.

The first stage of construction will begin in May 2019. Rural roads, Boundary Road and McCulloch Street, will be widened to two lanes in each direction, which will assist drivers travelling from Schofields Road to Cranbourne Street.

The road will also be vital for commuters travelling to Tallawong Station, part of the Metro North-West Railway which is due to open in mid-2019.

Many of the existing roads are cut off by floods during periods of heavy rain. The upgrades will give motorists a faster, safer trip, with access to the roads regardless of the weather. The new roads will also ensure that residents have a safe flood evacuation route in the event of an emergency.

The upgrade is part of the Housing Acceleration Fund which aims to improve roads ahead of population growth, to meet the future demands of suburbs undergoing large-scale developments. By 2036, it is predicted that there will be up to 9,000 new homes within the Riverstone area.
